Romney booed at NAACP meeting for using buzzword

I’m sure that Romney campaign spin doctors were pounding their heads against a wall when Mitt went freestylin’ at the NAACP meeting in Houston today. It was bad enough that Romney stated his plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act to an audience comprised mostly of Obama supporters, but he used the GOP’s favorite euphemism for it, ‘Obamacare.’ Oops. Maybe jet lag was to blame and poor Mitt thought, for a moment, that he was speaking before a large group of Tea Partiers instead.

The audience was polite and respectful as Romney spoke of Martin Luther King Jr., Frederick Douglass and the de rigueur prepared platitudes. However, when Mitt said that he was “going to eliminate every non-essential, expensive program that I can find – and that includes Obamacare,” the boos erupted. Making matters worse, Romney swerved off script, mentioning a recent Chamber of Commerce survey which shows, allegedly, that people believe the health care law will cost jobs. Because, you know, the Chamber of Commerce doesn’t have a conservative bias. Oh, nooo. Romney then “vowed” to replace the law with an ambiguous “something else” that would help lower costs. Romney added that he would put the finances of Social Security and Medicare in the black. Of course, he left out the part about vouchers…
